“Morley embodies modern-day NY femininity in all its multicultural finesse.”
— The New York Times
“Morley pushes for peace in her music” — NPR
“Somewhere between Sade and Beth Gibbons, there’s Morley.” — TIME
Morley weaves the threads of jazz, soul, and folk traditions into a singular tapestry of vocal and acoustic splendor — the sound wave of a life lived with uncommon devotion to human rights and environmental justice.
She has graced a wide range of stages, including L’Olympia in Paris, the Nice Jazz Festival, The Barbican Center in London, Melkweg in Amsterdam, New York City’s Carnegie Hall, and The Nomad Women’s Festival in the M’Hamid Desert.
Her new album "Follow the Sound" is an expansive, globally minded, jazz-influenced offering that marks the start of a new chapter in the artist’s career.
The 12 evocative original compositions co-produced and co-written with GRAMMY®-winning producer Chris Bruce are at once a gentle conjure into the deep end of the heart, a celebration, and call to action.
The songs live and breathe with contributions from Toumani Diabaté (kora), Meshell Ndegeocello (bass, percussion, vocals), Shara Nova a.k.a. My Brightest Diamond (vocals), Jon Cowherd (piano, vocals), Chris Bruce (guitar, bass, vocals), Arun & Trina Ramamurthy (violins), Cole Kamen (trumpet), Jason Charles Walker, Alex Koi, Justin Hicks, Kenita Miller (supporting vocals) and Jack DeBoe, Jay Bellerose, and Abe Rounds (drums, percussion).
"Follow the Sound" carries a singular healing in its warmth and clarity of intention, and is right on time for Morley’s longoverdue return to playing live in Europe
